2020 Jerusalem Marathon

in memory of Ezra Schwartz

Molly Goldberg Belmont, MA · Bates College

Runner’s Statement Hi Everyone! This March, I will be running the half marathon at the Jerusalem Marathon with Hope Time Cure. This has been a goal of mine for a long time and I am so grateful for the opportunity to Run 4 Purple during my semester abroad!
For those who do not know, Hope Time Cure is an organization created by the Galler family and is dedicated to supporting research for epilepsy and raising awareness for the medical condition. I grew up spending my summers at Yavneh with Meital and Elisha, and have had the privilege of being Yakira’s counselor for three years. Their brother, Elan, was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was four years old. Elan never fails to bring smiles to people’s faces and I am excited to be able to run alongside Elan, his family, and so many of my Yavneh friends. Like Yakira, I have also been lucky enough to be Elon Schwartz’s counselor and have so so so much respect and admiration for the people I’ve seen them become. Both the Galler and the Schwartz families have taught me so much about the importance of family and I am honored to be their friend. For this reason, I am also running in memory of Ezra Schwartz z’’l who was tragically killed by a terrorist during his gap year in Israel in 2015. Ezra played a huge role as both a camper and counselor at Yavneh and has left a lasting impact on hundreds of people, whether they knew him well or not.
Please help me complete my goal of $1000. Any amount, big or small, is incredibly appreciated. Thank you!!
